Migrant worker’s situation during Covid-19

The across the country lockdown declared on March 24 at short notification has made colossal misery transient specialists around the nation.

Indian vagrant specialists during the COVID-19 pandemic have confronted different hardships. With manufacturing plants and work environments shut down because of the lockdown forced in the nation, a great many transient specialists needed to manage the loss of pay, food deficiencies and vulnerability about their future.

Following this, a considerable lot of them and their families went hungry.Thousands of them at that point started strolling back home, without any methods for transport because of the lockdown.

Stop the return to laissez-faire

Through the general wellbeing emergency made by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are observers to another huge catastrophe — of laborers being deserted by their bosses and, most importantly, by the state. The laborers' entitlement to return home was controlled utilizing the Disaster Management Act, 2005. No arrangements were made for their food, asylum, or clinical alleviation. Pay installments were not guaranteed, and the state's money and food help didn't cover most specialists.

Gazing at starvation, lakhs of laborers began strolling back home.

Many died on the way.

But during this situation some of the villagers in chhattisgarh has inspired us in many certain ways:

One more moving story of individuals dealing with one another in the present emergency. 15 laborers from Jharkhand were brought to Saraipali panchayat in Chhattisgarh by a contractual worker to chip away at power towers.

Also the villagers come together with the determination thet they will not let anyone go hungry. These laborers are completely dealt with by the town with the assistance of the neighborhood organization. A school is changed over into a Isolation Centera. A specialist comes in for regular checkups and new food is prepared for them consistently.

Measures to be taken by the Government for sending the Migrants Labours to their homes:

  • Andhra Pradesh government to arrange 22 special trains to ferry 33,000 migrant workers

  • The Delhi Government also arranges around more than 800 trains to transport around 10 lac Migrants Labours to their Native Places.

“So far as the restoration of helpline numbers is concerned, we direct the Delhi Government to ensure the uninterrupted working of their helpline number so that people may approach the Nodal Officer through the helpline numbers. The very purpose of the helpline number is to help the people and therefore, the same must be functional,”

said the division bench led by the Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar.

  • The buses are being arranged for the Labourers also the Government ensures that safe social-distancing norms are followed and the buses used for transport are sanitized as per the guidelines of the health authorities. The local authorities shall also provide for food and water etc., for the duration of their journey.

To Conclude:

In this situation it is very important that everyone should unite as one and by helping these laborers so that they can reach their respective home safely and no one has to suffer this much. By doing this we can not only help them but we can also set the examples for the others too. This is not only making us feel good but it will also inspire others to take such initiatives and help these workers too.
